Initial measures in light of the COVID-19 outbreak
The German authorities have granted initial measures in light of the COVID-19 outbreak to try and safeguard the liquidity of companies:
- The tax authorities will grant easier tax deferrals if the payment of taxes has a significant impact for the company.
- Furthermore, the tax authorities will also make it easier to reduce the prepayments for Corporate Tax, Solidarity Surcharge and Trade Tax where it is foreseeable that the tax burden of the company will potentially be lower in 2020.
- Lastly, the tax authorities will not execute outstanding tax amounts until 31 December 2020 in case that the crisis has a direct impact on the company.
It is highly possible that the German legislator will implement further measures for companies in order to survive the crisis.
